Obedience Dog Training Over 30 Years Experience

Obedience

As Roger Richards says, Dog training is not a science…it is an art!

Obedience Dog Training in Toronto, Ajax, Whitby, Brooklin, Pickering, Oshawa, Hamilton, Brampton & GTA. Obedience training requires timing and consistency and repetition, and a love for both the animal and its well-being. To succeed, one needs a kind hand and a well-informed mind. Under the right direction, even a first-time dog owner/handler may achieve a very high level of obedience in only a few lessons. Have you ever wondered why your dog performs well at home, but not when out in public or when faced with distractions?

Toronto K9’s obedience training opens up the lines of communication between your dog and your, the lack of which is always the root cause of most problems. Our obedience training follows a form of effective communication training that makes your dog obey your orders without any problem when asked.

Regarding puppies, training in the early months of a puppy’s life is essential. They will learn vital socialization and communications skills when they are young and these life experiences influence how your puppy will play.

If you have already completed an obedience course, and you do not have full control of your dog while it is off-lead, you have wasted both your time and money. Obedience training should not only improve your relationship with your dog, but it should also improve your dog’s chances of survival when faced with an unexpected off-leash situation. Obedience training is the greatest gift you can give to your dog, not to mention yourself!

Private Training

This course can take place either at the Clients home, Preferred location or at Toronto k9’s Training Center.

At Home

Private at home training is where the training director, Cliff Roger Richards goes to the client’s home or place of choice where you and he feel comfortable and safe and works one on one with the client and their dog. In this Program, the Basic Obedience commands needed to control any dog regardless of size or breed are taught.

The Obedience Commands include; heel, sit, sit and stay, down, down and stay, and come when called.

All of these commands are taught on a leash. Also, behavior modification is dealt with, this including, no jumping and mouthing.  This allows the entire family to participate in the training of their dog.

The fact that we are able to go into your home, providing humane, completely natural methods to train your dog, makes this training program highly successful.  As we come to where you and your dog are, we are able to create a custom plan for puppy or adult dog training that takes into consideration your dog’s temperament, personality, and energy level.

At Toronto K9 Center

Private training at our facility follows the same regiment as At Home Training.  The course follows the same structure and covering all the same commands and behavior training except that it is all done at our facility instead of your home.

Inboard – Bootcamp  Training

Please note that there is always a waiting list for this program.

Bootcamp training requires the owner to leave their dog boarded with us for a month.  Note that in Inboard, Bootcamp training all dogs stay at our home and not at a kennel.  All formal obedience commands, correct socialization techniques and behavior problems are dealt with in this program, regardless of size or breed. These commands include; heel, sit, sit and stay, down, down and stay, and come when called. All of these commands are taught on a leash. Also, behavior modification is dealt with, this including, no jumping and mouthing. Your dog will benefit because he receives intense one-on-one training designed specifically for your dog, based on his personality and temperament.  Dogs are properly fed, exercised and attended to.  If you have any personal considerations in regard to diet, care, etc., we will be happy to accommodate you.  We also greatly encourage you to visit your dog to monitor his progress and to learn the techniques being taught so you would know the correct procedures to maintain your dog’s training when he returns home.

At the end of the one month program, the dog goes back to its owner.  Once the dog is back home with its owner and if the owner feels that they themselves may need some extra coaching, we have that covered.  If required, we include six Private, One-on-One classes with one of our trainers, free of charge to the owner. These private classes are held once a week at Toronto K9 Centre’s facility.

Group Classes

Held at Toronto K9 Center’s facility or other specified locations!

Our Group Classes course is a sixteen week program. For this program, the dog and their owner or handler, attend classes once a week for sixteen weeks at a Toronto K9 Center’s facility. This sixteen week program offers the same curriculum that is thought in our Inboard – Bootcamp program except without the socializing training portion. All formal obedience commands are taught. These include; heel, sit, sit and stay, down, down and stay, and come when called. All of these commands are taught on a leash. Also, behavior modification is dealt with, this including, no jumping and mouthing.

We are firm believers that the most effective group classes is a sixteen week program and NOT an eight week program that is commonly offered. Consistency is of paramount importance in dog training. We encourage you strongly to attend all training classes if possible.
